10 short films named under Puregold CinePanalo’s new Panorama Shorts Section

Ten original short films are headed to cinemas this September as part of the 2026 Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival’s newly introduced Panorama Shorts Section.

The first-ever section was created to spotlight completed short films from filmmakers across the Philippines and give their work a wider theatrical platform through the annual festival.

Festival chair Ivy Hayagan-Piedad highlighted the continuing role of Puregold CinePanalo in creating opportunities for Filipino filmmakers to bring their stories to audiences.

“The Puregold CinePanalo has proven to be an important platform for local filmmakers who may now bring their work to a passionate and discerning audience,” Hayagan-Piedad said.

The new Panorama Shorts Section features 10 recently completed films discovered by the festival, all of which are set to make their big-screen premieres this September.

“Through the Panorama Shorts Section, we have found ten recently completed gems and will premiere them on the big screen,” she added.

With the new section, Puregold CinePanalo further expands its annual celebration of Filipino filmmaking by giving completed short-form works a dedicated theatrical showcase.

Selected for the first Panorama Shorts Section are:

“Alien Girl!” — Juliana Skye Q. Estaris

“Aninaw” — Arthur Benedict Dugan Eustaquio

“Gatecrashers” — Mark Francis Daniel T. Vicente

“Lip Skimming” — Gian Arre

“Narito Ako: A Digital Afterlife” — Miguel Lorenzo Peralta

“pansamantagalan” — Jiean Lanz Llave

“PINAGKAISAHAN” — Angela Jed Silvestre-Placino

“Plop” — Angela Isabelle Colada

“The Other Side of Reality” — Zig Dulay

“Unti-unti” — Genevieve Gallaga

The ten films were chosen from submissions received from filmmakers across the Philippines. Unlike the festival’s student shorts competition, Panorama Shorts focuses on recently completed works that have not yet been screened in the country, giving them an opportunity to reach audiences through a theatrical premiere.

The lineup brings together emerging and established filmmakers and reflects the range of work currently being produced in the Philippine independent film scene.

Through Panorama Shorts, Puregold CinePanalo is expanding its platform beyond films developed specifically for the festival and opening its screens to independently produced works seeking a wider audience.

The ten Panorama Shorts will be shown throughout the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival from September 23 to October 4, 2026, with exclusive screenings at Gateway Cineplex 18.

Tickets are priced at ₱250 for regular admission and ₱200 for discounted admission. PWDs, senior citizens, students, national athletes, and Aling Puring and Perks cardholders qualify for the discounted rate.

A ₱2,000 festival pass will also be available for moviegoers who want to watch the festival’s full-length films and student shorts. The pass may be purchased at Gateway Cineplex 18 beginning September 22 and at Trinoma, Fairview Terraces, Ayala Malls Feliz, Ayala Malls Circuit, Ayala Malls Manila Bay, and Market! Market! beginning September 23.

The addition of Panorama Shorts bolsters Puregold CinePanalo’s efforts to provide Filipino filmmakers with theatrical exhibition opportunities and bring more original local stories to movie audiences.
