Angelica Jones proud as son Angelo Alday lands first film role in ‘Neophyte ’26’

A proud mother, actress, and Laguna Board Member, Angelica Jones expressed deep pride and happiness as her son, Angelo Alday, officially made his first appearance in a film. What made it an even more meaningful milestone for both mother and son is that they shared the screen together.

In an interview on the sidelines of the advance screening of the advocacy film ‘Neophyte ’26,‘ held on April 22, she emphasized both her personal feelings as a mother and their performances in the project.

“Unang-una, sobrang proud mom ako. Masaya because [it was just] solo parents week… first time lalabas sa pelikula si Angelo… So masaya, proud ako sa kanya, dahil yung eksena namin dito hindi arte—totoo na. Totoo yung iyak namin, totoo yung sakit namin, totoo yung experience namin dito,” Angelica Jones said.

She also clarified that she did not take on the role of a stage mother and credited the guidance her son received from key people in the production.

“Hindi ako naging stage mom dahil ang nag-convince sa kanya kung paano umarte [ay si] Neil Ryan Sese, yung husband ko dito [sa pelikula]—at si Direk Rommel Penesa. Sila yung nag-motivate kung paano umarte. Basta ang lagi kong sinasabi sa kanya, yung advice ko sa pag-arte: just be yourself. Maging natural yung arte mo. Gusto ko, yung arte na hindi ka plastic. Yung laging may puso. Lagi kong sinasabi sa kanya na isipin niya yung mga masasakit, yung mga alaala, para mailabas niya iyon sa pelikula.”

For Angelo Alday, the experience marks a major milestone as he steps into the entertainment industry with his first big-screen appearance.

Sharing his excitement and gratitude for the opportunity, he said, “Actually po, nakakakaba po pero masaya din po kasi it’s my first time po on the big screen. At thankful po [ako] kay Direk Rommel kasi binigyan ako ng ganitong role, binigyan ako ng malaking break sa big screen po at sa showbiz.”

‘Neophyte ’26’ features several Kapuso stars, including Derrick Monasterio, Elle Villanueva, and Jon Lucas.

Also part of the cast are Andrea Del Rosario, Dr. Ronald Adamat, Mike Lloren, Mosang, Lance Raymundo, Maxine Trinidad, Chris Leonardo, Vince Ricafrente, Chichi Dela Cruz, Angelica Santiago, Princess Estanislao, Dharelle Alconcel, and Timothy Chan.

It is written by Charlotte Dianco and directed by Rommel Penesa for Empowerment Film Productions, in cooperation with Spring Fairy Entertainment.
