Veteran actress Pilar Pilapil shared how her fears have changed as she grew older, saying her spirituality has helped her look at fear differently.
During the press conference for the horror film Mantsa on September 3 in Pasig City, Pilapil recalled that she used to have many things she was afraid of when she was younger. Now, however, she said her biggest concern is what happens to her after this life.

“Noong bata pa ako, marami akong kinatatakutan. Pero ngayon, as I got older and since I’m already spiritual, ang kinatatakutan ko lang talaga is if I end up in hell.”
Pilar said she tries her best to live in a way that pleases God because she hopes that, when she dies, she will not end up in hell.
“I really strive very hard to do what is favorable or what is pleasing to God, para hindi ako mapunta doon when the time comes.”
Her thoughts on fear come as Ms. Pilar Pilapil stars in Mantsa, a dark psychological horror story that explores family, hidden wounds, and mental health.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Louie Ignacio and produced by Bambbi Fuentes of Dragon Entertainment Production Inc., the film also stars Shira Tweg, Khai Flores, and Gellie de Belen, and many more. With special participation from Janice de Belen and Snooky Serna.
Mantsa opens nationwide in Philippine cinemas on October 7, 2026.
