The Philippine adaptation of Pee Mak, the Thai 2013 mega-hit that grossed more than 33 million US dollars worldwide, is finally coming to cinemas in October!
Produced by Viva Films, this horror-comedy love story of Mak and Pee-Nang gets a fresh take with rising love team Wilbert Ross and Bea Binene, known to fans as “WilBea”.
Mak, a Filipino-American soldier, has survived the war and eagerly returns home to his wife, Pee-Nang, and their newborn son. He is accompanied by his four comrades, Teryo, Poknat, Ayong, and Bunak, who are all pleased to meet Mak’s little family.
Pee-Nang is likewise delighted to have her husband back and to welcome his friends. Her beauty is not lost on Poknat (played by TJ Valderrama), the hopeless romantic in the group. But Bunak (played by Gian Bernardino), who believes in supernatural beings, senses that something is off about her.
Rumors are actually circulating across town that Pee-Nang is already dead. True enough, Mak’s friends experience hauntings by Pee-Nang. They reveal their fears with Mak when they find a corpse wearing Pee-Nang’s ring.
Angered by this, Mak drives them away. Teryo (played by Vandolph), who acts as the leader despite being a bit slow, convinces Ayong (played by Jairus Aquino), the hustler of the group, and the other two to stay and save Mak from Pee-Nang.
Directed by Victor Villanueva, Pee Mak is packed with chaos as the characters try to outsmart each other to achieve their opposing goals. Mak and Pee-Nang fight to remain together, while his friends devise desperate plans to drive them apart.
But how can anyone banish a wife’s wandering spirit when her love for her husband is very much alive?
This being their first movie together, Wilbert and Bea acknowledge the pressure that comes with headlining Pee Mak, but they are determined to make this project one that WilBea fans and moviegoers in general can be proud of.
It is an advantage that WilBea has already established a strong rapport with director Villanueva. They first worked together on WilBea’s debut Viva One romantic series, Golden Scenery of Tomorrow, which became a hit during its run from October 2025 to March 2026. Their collaboration continued in Love U Lots, another hit series which premiered last July. With direk Villanueva’s guidance, the love team’s chemistry and comedic timing are sure to be showcased again in Pee Mak.
WilBea’s chemistry is so palpable that fans went wild with kilig when they shared the stage at Wilbert’s sold-out two-day concert, aptly called “WRten”, celebrating his ten years in showbiz. Now, audiences can look forward to seeing that same magic in Pee Mak.
The supporting cast that stirs things up and adds hilarity to the situation includes seasoned comedians Janno Gibbs, who plays the albularyo or local folk healer, and Candy Pangilinan as Marites, an alcoholic liquor vendor who gives a hint about Pee-Nang’s identity.
WilBea is also joined by Jerome Ponce, who plays Dodong, Marites’ son and Pee-Nang’s jilted suitor. The trio had worked together in the University Series on Viva One, making Pee Mak another exciting collaboration.
Pee Mak also marks the feature film debut of Gian Bernardino, singer-songwriter of one of today’s biggest Pinoy pop-rock bands, Cup of Joe. It will be fun to see how he will banter with his fellow co-stars TJ, Vandolph, Jairus, and WilBea when they are in character.
Much research has also been done to incorporate Filipino traditions into this adaptation. Everyone in the cast and crew has poured their hearts into bringing Pee Mak to life.
