In 2019, the Philippine adaptation of the hit Korean movie Miracle in Cell No. 7 was released. It was one of the official entries in the 45th Metro Manila Film Festival, starring Aga Muhlach and Xia Vigor, and Bella Padilla. It was the highest grossing film of the festival, earning more than 540 million pesos.
This 2026, we will once again witness the story of Lito and Yesha and get to know more about the characters we already know and love.
A new character will also be introduced in the film that will surely be unforgettable to audiences. We will meet Angela, Lito’s wife and Yesha’s mother, portrayed by none other than multi-awarded and highly acclaimed actress Jodi Sta. Maria.
A premier actress who has been part of major film and television series, Jodi has proven her talent and versatility over the years through her iconic roles. Some of her most unforgettable characters include Maya dela Rosa in the longest-running morning drama series Be Careful With My Heart; Amor Powers in the 2015 remake of Pangako Sa ’Yo, where she received an International Emmy nomination for Best Actress; and Dr. Jill Ilustre in the Philippine adaptation of The Broken Marriage Vow, where she won Best Actress at the Asian Academy Creative Awards.
Jodi Sta. Maria is sure to bring a whole new level of drama and emotion to her role in Lito and Yesha’s lives.
The film will also uncover the stories that took place before and after the events of the first film. The untold chapter of Lito’s life will be shared, showing what his life was like way before he was falsely accused and imprisoned. We will see what their family used to be like, along with the sacrifices and great love Lito had for his wife and daughter.
Aga Muhlach will once again play Joselito “Lito” Gopez, while Xia Vigor will return as Yesha. Joining them for the first time is Jodi Sta. Maria as Angela. Also returning to the film are Lito’s former cellmates: Joel Torre as Boss Sol, Soliman Cruz as Tatay Celso, JC Santos as Mambo, Mon Confiado as Choi, and Jojit Lorenzo as Bong.
2nd Miracle in Cell No. 7 is written by Mel Mendoza-Del Rosario and directed by Nuel Naval, who were also the screenwriter and director of the first film, respectively.
