Miss Universe Paraguay 2026 Gretha Matiauda arrives in the Philippines for training

Miss Universe Paraguay 2026 Gretha Matiauda has arrived in the Philippines to undergo training as part of her preparation for the upcoming Miss Universe.

“I am here in the Philippines for my preparation,” she said during a press conference organized by her mentor Josh Yugen held on April 25 in San Juan City.

The Paraguayan beauty queen also expressed gratitude to her pageant mentor, Josh Yugen, for his continued support in her journey to the international stage. She also shared her admiration for the Philippines’ strong reputation in the global pageant scene, citing iconic Filipina queens such as Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray as inspirations.

“I want to thank you because the Philippines [is]… the most powerful country in pageantry right now. So I am really grateful to be here,” Matiauda said. “I admire a lot of Filipina queens like Catriona and Pia.”

Matiauda shared that competing on the international stage has been a lifelong dream that began in her childhood.

“It represents a lot to me because since I was a child, I was dreaming of this moment. I have to give my best, and I feel really prepared to do that because I [have loved] Miss Universe since I was five years old,” she said.

She added that the Miss Universe platform goes beyond beauty and competition. She emphasized its role in advocacy and empowerment.

“I think it is a platform that gives you power to help each other. And also, I think it is a platform to empower another woman and also to embrace your career,” she added.

Matiauda is currently in the Philippines intensifying her preparation as she looks ahead to the Miss Universe competition set for November in Puerto Rico.
