During the launch of the ‘Sa Likod ng Tsapa’ music video in Laguna on April 11, Police Brigadier General Hansel Marantan expressed hope that the project would continue to carry its message even beyond his lifetime.
“I hope that this docufilm and the MTV… can communicate even in my absence. I will remember that, and I hope you will remember it also,” he said.
Marantan emphasized that the work is not centered on him alone, but on a broader story shared by members of the law enforcement community.
He underscored that Sa Likod ng Tsapa is intended to educate and inform the public, highlighting the realities faced by law enforcers in their duty to maintain peace and order. According to him, the film reflects the collective experiences of those who serve in uniform—individuals who continue to strive for a peaceful society while facing risks, hardships, and personal sacrifices.
“The intention is to educate and to inform the people that it’s not only about me. ‘Sa Likod ng Tsapa’ is not only about me. It’s the story of all law enforcers who try and to attempt to come up with a peaceful society, they sacrifice their lives. And I hope these sacrifices will not be put in bury,” Marantan continued.

Following its release on August 13, 2025, ‘Sa Likod ng Tsapa: The Story of Col. Hansel Marantan‘ has steadily drawn attention beyond the Philippines, earning recognition on the international film circuit.
In March 2026, the documentary received the Outstanding Excellence Award at the Documentaries Without Borders International Film Festival. Earlier, in January 2026, it also received a Special Mention Award at the Dhaka International Film Festival, further affirming its reach and resonance with global audiences.
The film, created by Mindanao-based filmmaker Editha Z. Caduaya, offers a more intimate lens on the life of Hansel Marantan. It moves beyond the uniform to trace a human story shaped by public scrutiny, institutional pressure, and personal resilience. Through its narrative, the documentary explores the intersections of duty and vulnerability, presenting a portrait of a law enforcer whose experiences reflect broader realities within the profession.
With the release of its theme song’s music video, the documentary is reaching a wider audience and gaining greater visibility. The song was composed and produced by Editha Z. Caduaya and performed by Jerry Angga Mantawi.
