Witness the cinematic realization of the acclaimed TV action-thriller, “Tokyo MER” – a tribute to frontline heroes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Inspired by the bravery of medical professionals, TV producer Masanao Takahashi crafted a show that became a 2021 sensation, culminating in a movie adaptation currently dominating the Japanese box office.
This November 22, Filipino audiences can experience the intensity of “Tokyo MER” on the big screen, exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas. Ryohei Suzuki reprises his TV role as the lead doctor, supported by new talents including SixTONES’ Jesse as Tomohiro Shiomi, a trainee doctor, and Anne Watanabe as Tomo Kamoi, the chief doctor of the MER team in Yokohama.
Directed by Aya Matsuki, the film unfolds two years after the TV series, with the Yokohama Landmark Tower as its central emergency setting. The production team aimed for realism, consulting the city’s fire department for a fiery Tower scenario and collaborating with medical experts to design an advanced Yokohama MER’s ER car, a key element of the show.
Producer Ami Yagi expressed excitement about the new cast additions, praising Anne Watanabe for embodying the cool yet endearing Yokohama MER Chief Kamoi. SixTONES’ Jesse, known for his bright persona, tackles the role of Shiomi, a character evolving throughout the film.
Distributed by Warner Bros. via Encore Films, the movie promises a thrilling extension of the TV series.
