First Monching Awards launched; JCI Manila honors legacy while challenging excellence

As JCI Manila formally presents its 2026 Board of Directors, the organization also marks a historic milestone with the launch of the first-ever Monching Awards—a premier internal recognition platform designed to elevate purpose, performance, and brotherhood within Asia’s first and premier JCI chapter.

More than an awards program, the Monching Awards reflects JCI Manila’s renewed commitment to continuous improvement and excellence. At its core is a philosophy that values growth over rivalry, impact over accolades, and integrity over competition.

JCI Manila Local Organization President Edison Ke articulated this spirit during the launch on January 29 in Pasay City, emphasizing that the awards are meant to challenge members to rise above their own limits:

“Since we are all male chapter and we have this passion for helping our communities, we don’t really take it as a competition… We’re challenging ourselves to really elevate the projects through this awards. Because through this awards, there will be recognition. Our external judges are all reputable, are all very high integrity. So, this awards will really challenge our members to put their best in their projects, in how they fund-raise, in how they execute the projects. So… I believe that this is the essence of this project. It’s not about competing with one another. It’s more about challenging them to be better. Because we know that we can still do better. But hopefully through this award we can attain our full potential.”

This mindset captures the very heart of the Monching Awards’ mission and vision. The program seeks to honor and empower members, leaders, and projects that embody innovation, impact, and brotherhood, while institutionalizing a culture of recognition and continuous improvement within JCI Manila. By doing so, it fosters leaders who serve with excellence and inspire others to uphold the chapter’s enduring legacy.

Anchored on this mission, the Monching Awards envisions becoming JCI Manila’s premier recognition platform—one that celebrates leadership, excellence, and service, while immortalizing the legacy of Ramon V. del Rosario Sr. More than recognition, it is a call for every JCI Manila member to Lead Beyond with purpose, passion, and integrity.

Named in honor of Ramon V. del Rosario Sr., fondly known as Monching, the Charter President of JCI Manila and JCI Philippines, the awards carry deep historical and cultural significance. Monching was a visionary businessman and nation-builder who founded JCI Manila in 1947, laying the foundation for leadership, service, and moral integrity that continues to define the organization today.

As JCI Manila embraces its Lead Beyond vision—going Beyond The Expected, Beyond Limits, and Beyond the Next Generation—the Monching Awards stands as a tangible expression of that call. It honors the past, challenges the present, and inspires members to unlock their full potential in service of the community and the enduring legacy of brotherhood.

Through the Monching Awards, JCI Manila is not simply recognizing excellence—it is redefining it.
