Concert, Holy Mass to open EDSA People Power 1’s 40th anniv. celebration

A major concert and a Holy Mass will formally launch the activities commemorating the 40th anniversary of the historic EDSA People Power 1.

The celebration begins with the People Power 40 Kick-Off Concert titled “Awit at Aksyon Kontra Korapsyon,” scheduled on February 21 at Quezon Memorial Circle. The event will gather some of the country’s most recognizable artists and performers for an evening that blends music, advocacy, and remembrance.

Organized by Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG) and Kaya Natin!, the concert will feature performances by Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs, Rivermaya, Ice Seguerra, Ebe Dancel, Pio Balbuena, Morobeats, Elmo and Arkin Magalona, Chelsea Alley, and Over October.

The festivities will also be enlivened by appearances from “Unkabogable Star” Vice Ganda, stand-up comedians Alex Calleja and Red Ollero, and celebrities Iza Calzado and Bea Binene, alongside DJ JhaiHo, adding entertainment and energy to the opening of the anniversary celebration.

Beyond entertainment, the concert aims to reintroduce the spirit of the bloodless and peaceful revolution to the new generation of Filipinos and seeks to rekindle the unity, courage, and conviction that led to the restoration of the country’s democracy in 1986.

The commemoration continues the following day with a Holy Mass and Prayer Rally at the EDSA Shrine at 12 noon, to be presided over by Cardinal Ambo David.

It will be capped by the 40th anniversary celebration spearheaded by Tindig Pilipinas and the Trillion Peso March Movement on Feb. 25 at the People Power Monument.
