Mayor Maan Teodoro approves full tax relief for sari-sari stores, carinderias; grants RPT amnesty to delinquent payers

The Marikina City government has approved sweeping tax relief measures to help residents and small businesses manage rising costs, including a 100 percent tax exemption for sari-sari stores and carinderias for tax year 2026, as well as a complete amnesty on interests and surcharges for delinquent real property taxpayers.

The measures were signed into law by Mayor Maan Teodoro on Monday, January 19, 2026. The ordinances form part of a broader local initiative designed to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) while also easing the financial strain on households across the city.

According to Teodoro, the package of ordinances was intentionally crafted to give both small entrepreneurs and property owners a chance to recover and comply without added penalties.
