Mika Salamanca makes film debut via MMFF, named J Spray’s new endorser

Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition Big Winner and Sparkle artist Mika Salamanca is ready to take a big step in her career as she makes her big-screen debut in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2025 entry, ‘Call Me Mother’.

During a press conference for her newest endorsement, J Spray Perfume, held on October 3 in Quezon City, Mika shared her excitement about the project.

“Ito po ang first-ever movie ko and first-ever MMFF ko po. Sobrang saya ko po diyan at sobrang excited ko. Siyempre ang expectation ko po dito… magiging funny siya. And hindi lang siya magiging nakakatawa, nakaka-touch din siya ng heart,” she said.

Directed by Jun Robles Lana, under Star Cinema, The IdeaFirst Company, and Viva Films, the film also stars Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre, and will premiere in cinemas on December 25 as part of the MMFF 2025 lineup. Mika described Call Me Mother as a heartfelt story that both young audiences and parents can relate to and learn from.

“Kasi ako, nabasa ko na ‘yung story niya and kahit binabasa ko lang ‘yung script namin doon, umiiyak ako. Kasi talagang ang daming matutunan ng mga—hindi lang kabataan, pati ng mga magulang sa Call Me Mother,” she shared.

“Sobrang dami niyang nata-tackle na issue: family, even sa mundo. Kaya ako, sobrang excited ko mapanood n’yo po siya kasi ang daming matutunan ng mga tao dito.”

Mika also expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work on the project, describing the atmosphere on set as fun and full of laughter.

“And isa pa, yung mga kasama ko po dito na mga artista, sobrang professional. Yun lang ang masasabi ko. Sobrang sarap nilang katrabaho. Walang taping na hindi kami tumatawa… Somehow ako personally kapag umuuwi ako ng bahay, hindi ako yung parang pagod na pagod na nag-taping nang buong magdamag. Kasi ang ginagawa namin, tumatawa pa rin kami at masaya kami habang nagti-take,” she said.

Aside from her upcoming film, Mika was also officially launched as J Spray Perfume’s newest ambassador. She shared her excitement about the partnership, saying she loves how the brand offers a wide range of good-smelling and affordable fragrances that everyone can enjoy.

J Spray offers a total of 17 scents across five collections. For women, it includes the J Fragrances Line (Glamour, Admire, Charm), Pink Series (I Do, Be With You, Love Fantasy), and the newly launched Pastel Series (Everyday With You, Uptown Girl, Mi Amore, She’s the One).
