Known for her powerful voice, Frenchie Dy is set to celebrate her 20th year in the music industry with her upcoming anniversary concert, ‘Here To Stay‘, on October 24 at the Music Museum. Even after experiencing Bell’s Palsy three separate times, she continues to move forward with gratitude and strength.
Looking back on her journey, Frenchie reflected on the moment that changed her life forever — winning as the grand champion of Star in a Million in 2005.
“Pinaka-thankful ako noong nanalo ako sa Star in a Million. ‘Yon yung pinagpapasalamat ko talaga dahil noong nanalo ako ng Star in a Million, doon na nagsimulang magbago yung buhay ko. Na ‘yon yung sinasabi sa akin ng tatay ko. Sabi niya, ‘Anak, ang pagkanta mo pagbutihan mo baka mamaya, pagdating ng panahon yan ang magpakain sayo. Yung sinabi niya, nagkatotoo,” Frenchie Dy shared when Tatak MNL asked her what she is most thankful for in her 20 years in the industry during the press conference on September 11 in Quezon City.
Frenchie has openly shared how Bell’s Palsy — which causes sudden weakness or paralysis in the facial muscles — has affected her career and life. Surviving the condition not once but three times, she describes it as one of her greatest challenges. Instead of holding her back, it became a source of strength and perspective, reminding her why she sings and who she sings for.
Now, she is paying it forward. Part of the proceeds from her anniversary concert will go to Bell’s Palsy patients, spreading awareness and hope through music.
From her breakout as Star in a Million champion to becoming known as “The Power Diva,” Frenchie has consistently captivated audiences with her commanding stage presence and heartfelt performances. Fans can expect an evening of powerhouse vocals, meaningful stories, and collaborations with some of her closest friends in the industry.
