Is there competition among Queendom divas Hannah, Jessica, Mariane, Thea & Chloe?

For the powerhouse singers of GMA’s Queendom, competition is the last thing on their minds. Instead, they see themselves as sisters who grow together in music and in friendship.

Jessica Villarubin expressed, “I’ve work with Hannah Precillas, Mariane Osabel, actually lahat sila [including Thea Astley and Chloe Redondo]. Kami kasi we don’t see ourselves like… ito yung nararamdaman ko ha, hindi kami in competition talaga. We really help each other, we share ideas with our songs… Sa Queendom kasi, gano’n kasi kami [na-train] ng GMA na wala talagang competition. So, feeling ko wala.”

That spirit of encouragement has also been deeply felt by Thea Astley, who admitted she initially doubted her place in their upcoming concert. “Actually… a little anecdote lang, when the ‘Born For This’ concert was first presented to me, I messaged Ate Jessica [Villarubin] pa na ‘…Baka namali lang na sinama ako. Parang hindi naman ako belong.’ Tapos siya pa yung nag-hype sa akin na ‘Bakit mo yan iniisip…’”

She added that even in small moments, they make sure to cheer one another on. “Tapos noong nagkaroon na rin kami ng group chat tatlo the night before the concert, talagang hina-hype namin yung isa’t isa.”

Thea also highlighted her lasting bond with fellow Queendom singers Mariane Osabel and Hannah Precillas, who are pairing up for ‘Versus’ concert. “And with Ate Mariane [Osabel] and Ate Hannah [Precillas], having worked with them for so many years now in Queendom and the fact na yung friendship namin talagang nag-blossom. It just goes to show that there really is no competition. In fact, yung galing nang isa’t isa I believe that’s what highlights everyone. Kasi iba-iba din po talaga kami. Kahit lahat bumibirit, nagha-high notes, pero may individuality din talaga kami. And lagi kami nagtutulungan. And I think you will see that in the concert series.”

Mariane Osabel echoed the same sentiment, likening their camaraderie to sibling-like support. “Kung meron mang competition, baka friendly competition lang. Alam mo yung parang magkakapatid kami. Yung nagpapasiklaban kami ng report cards sa mga magulang namin. Parang ganoon lang. For self-growth lang din for each of us.”

These reflections on their bond came during the press conference for their much-awaited shows. Hannah Precillas and Mariane Osabel are set to headline Versus on October 10 at the Music Museum, while Jessica Villarubin, Chloe Redondo, and Thea Astley will team up for the Born For This concert tour.

Both concerts are produced by WIDE International, led by Ms. April Martin and Ms. Pauline Publico.
