Ben&Ben is set to join Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha in her comeback concert Still Lani, but for the band, it’s more than just another performance—it’s a deeply meaningful tribute to an artist whose journey they find both inspiring and personal.
During a press conference on July 18 in Pasig City, Paolo Benjamin, Miguel Benjamin, and Andrew de Pano opened up about what it means to be part of Lani’s return to the stage after her life-changing health battle.
“To be part of this show but most especially after hearing yung story niya especially the past 5 years for her and her family and husband, parang it would be our greatest honor to be part of this milestone para sa kanya,” said Paolo. “Kasi basically itong comeback story ni Ms. Lani, we see—I think all of us can see ourselves in one way or another do’n sa kanya—na sobrang rising above what she has been thru and using that para maging kumbaga testament kay God eh. Tsaka resilience nila rin as a couple and siya rin as an artist. So there are so many things na we want to celebrate with her sa concert na ‘to kaya thank you po, Ms. Lani, for making us part of this.”
Miguel added, “Yung pagkakataon kasing maging bahagi ng tagakwento ng lahat ng nangyari sa kanila and how she rose above it. I think that’s the—kung may number one na parang sobrang tumatak sa amin at talagang nagpapasalamat kami naging bahagi kami ng lahat ng ‘to—‘yon ‘yun.”
Andrew reflected on the weight of Lani’s story from the perspective of a fellow musician. “As musicians, naging sobrang real ‘tong something like this could happen to anyone. That really helps us—sobrang laking inspiration nung ginagawa ni Ms. Lani ngayon na kahit ma-put ka in a situation na halos mawala completely yung gift mo, you still fight for it—for the love of music, for the love of what you do, for the love of what makes you ‘you’. Parang she was at the point of giving up pero nandito siya right now to give us a full concert. Parang to go from that low point to now here. Tapos we just saw her sing, we just witnessed her sing—tapos parang walang nagbago. It’s such a testament to how hard work, like real hard work and real passion, can get you anywhere basically.”
Still Lani, a celebration of Lani Misalucha’s 40th year in the music industry, features a star-studded lineup of guest performers including Ben&Ben, Leanne & Naara, Shaira Opsimar, and Paeng Sudayan, with the Manila Symphony Orchestra.
