Barbie Forteza is stepping into the horror genre with full confidence and deep gratitude as she headlines the upcoming film P77. During a press conference on July 22 in Quezon City, the Kapuso Primetime Princess didn’t hold back in expressing just how much the project means to her.

“Actually ang showbiz man pakinggan pero being part of ‘P77’ is a dream come true for me. I’m a big horror fan. I’m a huge movie goer and this is the type of film na I would really want to see in theaters kasi I want to share the experience with the rest of the audience…,” Barbie Forteza said.
“To be able to do another project with Direk Derick na napakaganda ng experience namin noon sa ‘Tuos’. Tapos ngayon, kasama ko siya ulit. Wala pa ring kupas ang husay,” she continued.

Reuniting with director Derick Cabrido, Barbie reflected on how meaningful it is to once again collaborate with someone she holds in high regard. But more than that, she recognized the weight of the trust placed on her by the film’s producers.
“Yung tiwala ng GMA, ng Warner Brothers, ng GMA Public Affairs, GMA Pictures—na ako lang, together with the great, brilliant ensemble cast of this film—para mas maging maganda at mas makabuluhan ang kwento namin. Sobrang fulfillment yun para sa akin bilang isang aktor dahil, like I said kanina, challenging ang ating film industry today. So para magtiwala sila sa akin ng ganito, grabe, grabe yung gratitude and pressure in a way.”
Despite the pressure, Barbie beams with pride over the film’s quality. She described P77 as a standout work she’s not only proud to be part of, but also excited to champion.
“I am very confident with our material. Kaya rin proud ako na i-promote siya kasi, I mean, wala namang iba. Ako ang magmamayabang ng pelikula namin kasi ganon siya kaganda. Not because nandito ako, pero ‘yung material itself—ang rich, ang talino, kumbaga.”
“All ages sakop ng pelikulang ito… mula sa pinakabata, kapatid ko si Euwenn Mikaell dito, ‘di ba? So mula sa pinakabata hanggang sa pinakamatanda, sakop namin ng audience. We have Miss Gina Pareño here in this film and so many more brilliant actors, kaya I am very grateful and humble to be part of this movie,” Barbie continued.
‘P77’ follows the story of Luna (Barbie), a cruise ship chambermaid who returns home to take care of her sick younger brother. After their mother disappears, the siblings secretly take shelter in an abandoned condo unit—Penthouse 77—only to discover that the true horror is just beginning.
The film is helmed by Derick Cabrido and written by Enrico Santos, based on a story by Green Bones creators Anj Atienza and Kristian Julao. It features a strong ensemble cast including Euwenn Mikaell, Jackielou Blanco, Carlos Siguion-Reyna, Gina Pareño, Rosanna Roces, Chrome Cosio, and JC Alcantara.
Set to premiere in cinemas on July 30, P77 is a psychological horror film produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
