Actor and filmmaker Carlos Morales is finally bringing his long-time dream project to the screen — Wild Boys, a Filipino dance film inspired by international hits like Magic Mike, Step Up, and Stomp the Yard.
“Dati pa kasi ‘to e. Kasi dancer ako, ‘di ba? So, baby ko [na ’to] even before,” Morales shared during the premiere night of Wild Boys on June 3 in Quezon City. His background in dance played a big role in shaping the concept, which he’s been nurturing for years.
He revealed that the idea for Wild Boys started to take shape once he had the chance to write a script. “No’ng nagkaroon ako ng chance na gumawa ng script, binuo ko ‘to together with some of my friends, back to collaboration of ideas,” he said, highlighting the creative teamwork that went into developing the film.
Though he drew inspiration from well-known Hollywood titles, Morales stressed that Wild Boys is more than just a sexy showcase.
“Hindi naman talaga gano’n na gano’n pero [inspired by] Magic Mike, Step Up, and Stomp the Yard. So hindi lang siya pa-sexy lang. Talagang total performance siya — dance [movie talaga],” he explained.
“Kasi wala pang dance movie sa atin masyado. So ‘yun yung gusto kong i-present sa tao,” he continued.

Wild Boys is headlined by a powerhouse cast that includes Aljur Abrenica, Vin Abrenica, Martin Escudero, Kristofer Garcia, Nico Locco, Hashtag Jimboy Martin, Arwind Santos, Christian Ty, Billy James, Christian Singson, Rash Flores, and Pedro Red.
Joining them in the supporting cast are Rolando Inocencio, Cataleya Surio, Mariposa, CJ Garcia, Krista Miller, Ina Alegre, Atak Araña, Inday Garutay, Paul Alvarez, and many more.
With Wild Boys, Carlos Morales is not only sharing a personal passion but also shining a spotlight on dance as a serious art form and storytelling medium in Filipino film — and it’s coming to cinemas very soon.
