Dr. Mu Feng highlights innovative cancer treatments at Kamuning Bakery Café

Cancer is a major health concern affecting millions worldwide. Although it can be life-threatening, ongoing advances in medicine are bringing new hope—through earlier detection and more effective treatments.

On June 2, 2025, the historic 86-year old Kamuning Bakery Café hosted a special Pandesal Forum that focused on new ways to fight cancer. The guest speaker was internationally respected oncology consultant and oncosurgeon, Dr. Mu Feng. The event was moderated by veteran columnist and entrepreneur Wilson Lee Flores, owner of the café.

Dr. Feng, who also serves as a professor at Jinshazhou Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, shared cutting-edge insights into the evolving landscape of cancer treatment.

His talk centered on three promising areas: the Circulating Tumor Cells (CTC) Test, Natural Killer (NK) Cell Therapy, and the potential of Hydrogen Medicine.

Dr. Feng introduced several innovative approaches that are reshaping how cancer is detected and treated. One of these is the Circulating Tumor Cells (CTC) Test, a method that can detect cancer cells in the bloodstream even before a tumor forms. This kind of early detection could lead to quicker treatment and significantly improve a patient’s chances of recovery.

He also discussed Natural Killer (NK) Cell Therapy, which works by boosting the body’s immune system. NK cells are a type of immune cell that can target and destroy cancer cells. Strengthening these cells allows the body to fight cancer more naturally and with fewer side effects.

Another promising area is Hydrogen Medicine, which looks at how molecular hydrogen may help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in the body—two factors linked to cancer and other serious illnesses.

The forum brought fresh insight and hope to the fight against cancer, offering a glimpse into the future of cancer care through innovative science and holistic approaches.
