Zaijian Jaranilla all grown up in Puregold’s digital series ‘Si Sol at si Luna’

Zaijian Jaranilla is stepping out of his comfort zone and into a more daring chapter of his acting journey with the new series ‘Si Sol at si Luna’, where he takes on a bold and unconventional role that has quickly become a topic of online buzz—especially after the trailer dropped, revealing intense scenes, including a kissing scene that caught many by surprise.

“Kinabahan ako no’ng napanood ko yung trailer kasi hindi ko alam kung ano’ng magiging reception nung mga tao sa akin. Parang ‘Mukbang’ daw,” Zaijian shared during the press conference for the series. “Pero sobrang saya ko dahil nakaka-recieve din ako ng mga comments na hindi ako takot mag-explore sa ibang role. And yun rin naman po talaga yung gusto ko.”

While Zaijian is grateful for how fans have known him throughout his career, he’s ready to take on more mature and layered characters.

“Thankful ako sa kung paano niyo ako nakilala pero gusto ko rin mag-try at ma-experience yung ibat-ibang roles na yan dahil iba yung pakiramdam pag nakakaganap ka ng ibang character. Sobrang self satisfying po niya.”

Portraying Sol in Si Sol at si Luna, Zaijian admitted that some scenes—like the kissing scene shown in the trailer—were a big leap for him.

“Big step rin siya para sa akin dahil hindi ko talaga akalain na gagawin ko yun. Honestly, no’ng gagawin na namin yung eksena hindi talaga ako mapakali… Dahil sa tulong nila Direk Dolly, Ate Jane [Oineza] sobra akong nadalian sa eksena.”

When asked if he’s ever fallen in love in real life, Zaijian admitted that his personal experiences helped him bring more depth to his character.

“Oo naman po. Sa edad ko naman na ito napagdaanan ko na rin naman na ’yon,” he said. “At nakatulong din siya para sa akin na ilagay yung mga gano’ng mga pakiramdam ni Sol. Feeling ko naman makikita niyo rin po ’yon sa series.”

On whether he’s had a similar kissing experience to his character, Zaijian joked, “Siguro po ang masasabi ko lang, marunong po ako humalik. Yun lang po.”

Zaijian Jaranilla stars alongside Jane Oineza, who plays Luna. Directed by Dolly Dulu, the series premieres on May 31 at 7 PM on the #Puregold YouTube Channel, with new episodes every Saturday.
