After MMFF Best Actor win for Green Bones, Dennis Trillo feels a ‘second wind’ in his career

After winning Best Actor at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) for the critically acclaimed film Green Bones, Dennis Trillo is embracing what he calls a “second wind” in his career. The recognition has not only reaffirmed his dedication to acting but also sparked fresh opportunities and renewed excitement for his craft.

“After po ng Metro Manila Film Festival, actually medyo malakas po yung impact non sa aking career dahil sa mga recognition na natanggap nung aming pelikula. Masasabi ko na parang feeling ko nagkaroon ng second wind yung career ko dahil doon,” Dennis Trillo shared during a press conference on May 8. 

“Katulad niyan, pumasok po itong Beautéderm na endorsement and yung mga iba pa. Basta sobrang thankful lang po ako sa lahat ng mga nangyayari,” he continued.

With this resurgence, Dennis said he has become more intentional in choosing projects. He revealed that both personal and family values influence his decisions.

“Hindi naman po tumatanggi sa mga proyekto kundi mas namimili lang ng kung ano talaga yung babagay sa amin at sa aming mag-asawa. Mas pinag-iisipan nang mabuti dahil siyempre po mas marami pong mga responsibilidad lalo na kami ay nakikilala bilang isang pamilya,” he explained.

Being part of a family with wife Jennylyn Mercado has made Dennis more cautious about the kind of roles he takes on. “Minsan mas umiiwas po sa mga mas sensitive na mga tema,” Dennis added.

Among the new opportunities that have come his way, Dennis was recently introduced as the newest ambassador for Belle Dolls Zero Filter Sunscreen line, a business venture of top beauty brand Beautéderm. 

Dennis expressed his pride in being the first male ambassador for the sunscreen brand and his hope to inspire other men to care for their skin.

“…Gusto natin din maging example sa mga kalalakihan na hindi lang dapat babae ang nag-aalaga sa mga balat nila kasi yung mga balat natin, iisa lang naman yan e. So, kung ano yung pag-aalaga ng mga babae dapat kung gusto mong maging maganda talaga yung balat mo dapat tularan din ng mga lalaki para makapagsimula sila ng routine sa kanilang mga buhay at alagaan nila yung mga balat nila,” he shared.

He was warmly welcomed by Beautéderm President and CEO Rhea Tan, who surprised him with a birthday cake to celebrate his 44th birthday—marking a joyful and personal moment in this exciting new chapter of his career.
