‘Isolated’: Yassi Pressman says she’s never felt this scared since ‘Insidious’

For someone who admits she avoids horror movies at all costs, Yassi Pressman’s newest project is a bold and unexpected move. The actress stars in Isolated, her first-ever horror film—and she says it’s unlike anything she’s ever done before.

“Very, very excited to have Isolated out in cinemas… This is a thrill that I’ve never experienced before,” Yassi said during a press conference on April 8 in Quezon City. “Talaga pong na-challenge po ako dito physically, mentally, [and] emotionally.”

Known more for her work in drama, romance, and action, Yassi said stepping into horror was both exciting and terrifying. “Hindi po talaga ako nanonood ng mga horror film, e. Takot po talaga ako,” she admitted. “Ang huling pelikulang [horror] pinanood ko po ay ang Insidious pa. Sobrang matagal na, kaya noong p-in-itch po ito sa akin, natatakot po ako na tanggapin.”

Despite her fear, Yassi took the plunge, seeing Isolated as an opportunity to grow. “But I said, it’s a nice challenge. It’s an honor to be working with Tito [Joel Torre], to be working with Direk [Benedict Mique]. Grabe! As in, kakaiba ang experience ko dito. Kahit off-screen, nakakatakot.”

Directed by Benedict Mique, the director behind the Netflix hit movie Lolo and the Kid, Isolated stars Yassi Pressman alongside Joel Torre, with Candy Pangilinan, Yayo Aguila, Wilbert Ross, Rafa Siguion-Reyna, Denise Esteban, and many more.

Brought to us by Viva Films and Lonewolf Films, the movie opens April 30 in cinemas nationwide.
