Ruffa Gutierrez, known for her elegance, and beauty, has long been a prominent figure in Philippine entertainment. Now at 50, she openly embraces aging, proving that confidence and self-care are key to thriving at any stage of life.
“I’m embracing it in full force!” Ruffa shared during a press conference on March 13 for a beauty brand she endorses.
She admitted that leading up to this milestone, she felt a mix of emotions.
“Kasi prior to me turning 50 I was feeling anxious. Sabi ko ‘O my God!’ …Parang 3 months akong umiiyak. Nagfa-flash back lahat ng mga nangyari sa buhay ko na how I wish I was 20 again… Parang nagpa-flash back yung youth ko,” she recalled.
However, Ruffa found a new perspective.
“So, when I suddenly turned 50, sabi ko, ‘I should just embrace it.’ Kasi it’s a blessing to still be alive, to still be healthy, to still have work at my age.”
With this mindset, she has made her health and well-being an even bigger priority.
“That’s why in the beginning of the year I started working out and I started moving, exercising and I prioritized my health. Always naman talaga pina-prioritize ko yung self-love and selfcare pero ngayon talaga mas dumoble pa yung conscious effort ko to watch what I eat. Bawal na masyado mag-meat,” she expressed.
For Ruffa, aging is not something to fear but to celebrate—a message she hopes will inspire others to embrace every stage of their lives with confidence and gratitude.
When it comes to parenting, Ruffa Gutierrez is all about openness and instilling independence in her daughters, Lorin and Venice. She shared the valuable life lessons she constantly reminds them of.
“I’m very close and I’m very open to my daughters. Wala akong tinatago sa kanila… I never hide anything from them because I don’t want them hiding anything from me,” Ruffa said.
“So, advice ko lang sa kanila, kailangan matuto sila, magtrabaho sila. Don’t rely on anyone to succeed. That’s why talaga binuhos ko talaga yung aking—I can’t say sacrifice, because it’s more of paying it forward na my parents gave me the ability to start working at an early age,” she continued.
For Ruffa, education is a top priority, which is why she made sure her daughters pursued their studies abroad.
“And for them naman, talagang importante para sa akin ang education. Kaya talagang pinag-aral ko sila sa America kahit na mahirap. Minsan, di ba, siyempre dalawa silang nag-aaral abroad and they also went to international schools, but I know that my sacrifice one day will pay off kasi sila naman yung magfo-flourish,” she shared.
“And kumbaga they are the wind beneath my wings and I want them to flourish also in life. So yun yung sinasabi ko sa kanila na continue to work hard and never ever settle for anything less than what you deserve,” Ruffa added.
