The FAMAS Short Film Festival 2025 is set to make history as the first-ever FAMAS event dedicated exclusively to short films.
Organized by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences and presented by REMS Entertainment, owned by filmmaker Gabby Ramos, this festival aims to celebrate the art of short filmmaking and highlight the next generation of Filipino filmmakers.
During a press conference on February 10, Gabby Ramos shared details about the FAMAS Short Film Festival 2025, emphasizing its inclusivity.
Gabby Ramos said, “This is open to all ages, all regions, all part of the country — even OFWs, as long na you meet the criteria. It should be maximun of 20 minutes kasama yung credit. It should be done from January 2024 to March 2025. Of course, kapag nagpasa ka, may check list kasi do’n. So, do’n natin malalaman kung student yung nagpasa o regional filmmaker. Or is this an advocacy film kasi merong separate award for that. So mano-nominate din siya for Best in Advocacy Film, Best in Student Film, Best in Regional Film. So, magkakaiba yan. Hanggang itangghal natin ang kauna-unahang 2025 Best Short Film.”
The inaugural FAMAS Short Film Festival 2025 is now accepting submissions. The deadline for entries is March 25, 2025. The official selections will be announced in the first week of April. Selected films will be screened from May 5 to 9, leading up to the Awards Night on May 10, 2025.
