IzaCalzado and DimplesRomana are sharing the big screen for the first time in an upcoming film. The two seasoned actresses, known for their compelling performances in television dramas, expressed their excitement about working together during a junket interview on February 6 in Quezon City, where Tatak Pelikula was able to ask them questions.
Dimples Romana expressed her excitement about working with Iza Calzado on their first film together, the horror movie The Caretakers.
“First movie namin ni [Iza Calzado] together and I’m so excited for everybody to be able to see this. Kasi lagi kami yung hindi nagkakatrabaho together dahil kadalasan yung roles na nao-offer sa aming dalawa ay medyo pareho.”
Dimples also shared how meaningful it was to work with Iza on this project, describing it as a “breath of fresh air” amid her busy schedule, where she juggled multiple projects, including High Street and Good Morning Kapatid.
“Naging masarap na paghinga ‘to sa akin na nakatrabaho ko si Iza.”
Dimples emphasized that deciding to be part of The Caretakers wasn’t difficult because of Iza and the familiar staff and crew, whom she considers like family.
“Gusto ko yung trabaho ko sa lifestyle show namin na Good Morning Kapatid because I finish at 8 AM. So, anything I do after that is really a very intentional choice. Ibig sabihin kailangan kong gustuhin yung tatrabahuin ko para puntahan ko.
“Hindi naging mahirap itong desisyon na ito because it was Iza, of course. And even the staff and crew parang pamilya ko na ‘tong mga ito. Dahil kami-kami lang din naman ang mga nandidito.”
Dimples also hinted that the movie features many “firsts” for audiences to experience.
“So, it was a very, very good experience. It was one for the books only because I feel there are so many firsts in this movie. Maraming mga unang pagkakataon na mae-experience ang mga manonood na makikita lang din nila ngayon.”
Iza Calzado shared how effortless and enjoyable it was to work with Dimples Romana.
“Talagang magaan kasi kwentuhan lang, and talagang, I love kasi connecting with people. I love learning also from people. And there’s so much to learn from Dimples, as a mother, as a businesswoman, as a marketing specialist. Alam mo yung parang, I admire you on so many levels. Yung talagang what you have now is clearly a product of hard work and smart work.”
On set, Iza appreciated their matching energy levels, which made their scenes flow smoothly. She trusted Dimples as a reliable scene partner, making her own work easier.
“Apart from that on set, hindi ka mag-iisip na ‘Jusko, yung eksena ko walang energy,’ hindi, wala. …Pareho kaming mataas ang energy. At the same time, when the work is there, you know na parang, may masasandalan ka. May kaeksena kang dependable. Part of my work is already done because I know she’s going to do her work really well,” Iza said.
Iza mentioned that there was no competition between them—only mutual support. Describing their teamwork as a well-coordinated dance, she called the experience truly rewarding.
“And then part of that is knowing na when I got to work with her …mararamdaman mo naman yun e. Pag gustong magpabida ng kasama mo. Pero hindi gano’n e. Yung parang nagbigayan. It was a very good dance on set,” Iza continued.
The Caretakers also stars Marco Masa, Ashley Sarmiento, Althea Ruedas, Erika Clemente, and Erin Espiritu, with a special appearance by Inka Magnaye and Jake Taylor.
Directed by Shugo Praico and produced by Regal Entertainment Inc. and Rein Entertainment PH, The Caretakers premieres in cinemas nationwide on February 26.
