Viva Films kicks off its 2025 movie lineup with the “holy-comedy” film Sampung Utos Kay Josh, a comedy that blends humor and heartfelt moments, where breaking the rules has never felt so divine.
At the movie’s press conference, lead star Jerald Napoles shared his thoughts on the project, praising its theme and plot and describing it as a film worth watching.
Jerald also expressed confidence in the project, believing it will resonate well with the audience and offer both humor and depth.
…Hindi siya yung nakakatawa lang,” he continued.
Sampung Utos Kay Josh tells the story of Josh, a man who has always followed the Ten Commandments, believing that good deeds will be rewarded. Jerald Napoles plays Josh, a loan executive who, despite his good life with his mother and fiancée, finds himself facing a series of unfortunate events. Financial troubles, a relationship at risk, and his mother’s health crisis lead him to question his beliefs.
In a desperate attempt to challenge the heavens, Josh decides to break each of the Ten Commandments, one by one. Will his rebellion bring him redemption, or will it push him further away from the right path?
Directed by Marius Talampas, the film encourages the audience to face both their doubts and convictions. “Ang Sampung Utos Kay Josh’ is not merely a film—it is a visceral, cathartic experience that delves into the heart of what it means to be human, challenging us to confront our deepest fears and emerge, perhaps, stronger for the journey,” shares the director, who also brought us the 2018 comedy-heist film ‘Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap.’
MMFF Best Supporting Actor Pepe Herrera plays a crucial role in Josh’s journey toward holiness (or unholiness). Watch out for his “divine” performance that will surely make the audience laugh out loud. ‘Sampung Utos Kay Josh’ is made even more entertaining by its equally funny and brilliant supporting cast: Albie Casiño, Bobot Mortiz, Irma Adlawan, James Caraan, Ashley Rivera, Debbie Garcia and Donna Cariaga each playing crucial roles in Josh’s journey.
From Viva Films, Anima, and Sine Arcade, Sampung Utos Kay Josh offers a perfect mix of humor and heartfelt moments. Catch it in cinemas nationwide starting January 29, 2025.
