Nella, the eldest daughter of multi-awarded actor Allen Dizon, proves that talent truly runs in the family.

During an intimate press conference on November 27 at Via Mare in Quezon City, Nella shared her experience working with her co-stars in the said Joel Lamangan film.

She shared, “It was really nice. They were really nice to me. Si Ate Rhian [Ramos], parang hindi siya yung—hindi niya ako tini-treat as iba. Para po siyang very bubbly na personality. And si Tita Pinky [Amador] naman, kahit na masungit siyang tingnan, she’s also really kind.”

Eight films and more to come

As the eldest daughter of Allen, Nella grew up witnessing the hard work and passion required in the film industry. This exposure has greatly influenced her career choices and commitment to her roles.

She started with Marino, a film where she played the 7-year-old daughter of Ara Mina and Allen Dizon, directed by Paul Sta. Ana. This early role gave her a glimpse into the complexities of acting, especially as she shared scenes with her own father.

Nella later took on diverse roles that showcased her versatility. In Joel Lamangan’s Rainbow Sunset, she played the daughter of Aiko Melendez, delivering a heartfelt performance that resonated with audiences. She also portrayed a troubled daughter in Persons of Interest, directed by Ralston Jover, opposite Dimples Romana.

Her ability to adapt to challenging roles became even more evident in Beauty Queen, an IWant Original Series where she played a young Gloria Diaz, once again directed by Joel Lamangan. Nella’s portrayal captured the essence of the beauty queen’s early struggles and dreams.

In Abenida, directed by Louie Ignacio, she played a blind young girl, demonstrating her skill in portraying characters with physical challenges. This was followed by Lola Magdalena, where she portrayed an ungrateful sister to Sunshine Cruz, under the direction of Joel Lamangan.

One of her most unique roles was in Apo Hapon, where she played an Igorota wife to Japanese actor Fumiya, directed again by Joel Lamangan. Her performance was praised for its authenticity and cultural sensitivity.

In her latest film Huwag Mo ‘Kong Iwan, she played a maid who helps Rhian Ramos’ character escape her evil employer, highlighting her ability to portray strong yet compassionate characters.

Her father’s career advice

She also shared the invaluable advice her father has given her regarding her acting career.

She shared, “The one thing he always tells me is to always imagine that you’re the character. Huwag mong iisipin that you’re an actor playing a character. Isipin mo that you are the character. Para po mas effective yung pag-portray mo ng role. Act as natural as possible. Yon na po yung pinaka-advice niya sa akin.”

The 22-year-old Nella, who is a titleholder of Mutya Ning San Fernando in Pampanga, also draws inspiration from established industry icons like Kapuso Primetime Queen and box-office queen Marian Rivera, whom she admires for her beauty, talent, and expressive acting.

Nella dreams of working alongside Marian one day, seeking to learn and grow from the experience.

“Ang ganda po kasi niya e!” she reasoned out. “Na-starstruck ako sa mukha niya. Una po sa lahat, beside sa maganda siya, ang galing din po niya mag-acting. Very expressive din po yung mata niya.

Siyempre po, as someone na matagal na rin po sa industry—si Marian, gusto ko rin po makahingi ng advice sa kanya. At the same time, makatrabaho ko rin po [sana] siya.”

With her undeniable talent and passion, Nella Dizon is poised to make a name for herself in the entertainment industry, following in her father’s footsteps while carving her unique path. Watch out for her upcoming projects soon!
