Now showing: ‘Kang Mak’, Indonesia’s ‘Pee Mak’ remake, brings thrills and laughs

This November, Philippine audiences can enjoy the Indonesian comedy-horror film Kang Mak, a remake of the hit Thai movie Pee Mak — now showing in cinemas nationwide.

The story follows Makmur, a soldier determined to survive the war so he can reunite with his pregnant wife, Sari. Fighting alongside his loyal friends—Supra, Fajrul, Jaka, and Solah—Makmur shares a bond forged through their wartime experiences, swearing to remain lifelong friends.

Makmur’s most awaited homecoming finally arrives, and he is thrilled to find out that Sari has already given birth. His friends rejoice with him. However, their delight turns to fright when one of the friends stumbles upon a dead body that looks exactly like Sari. It turns out that Sari is actually dead, and they are in the company of a wandering spirit!

Supra, Fajrul, Jaka and Solah try everything to tell Makmur the truth about his wife, but she also has ways to stop them. Viewers will be pleased to see that, as the anxiety level felt by Makmur’s friends intensifies, the hilarity of their situation also keeps building up.

The chemistry between the actors is notable, and critics agree that “Kang Mak” is an “interesting and incredible” film. It stars one of Indonesia’s top comedians, Indro Warkop, and real-life husband and wife Vino Bastian and Marsha Timothy.

Don’t miss this spooky yet funny movie directed by Herwin Novianto. “Kang Mak” is now showing from Viva International Pictures and Falcon Pictures.
