BINI joins Ogie Alcasid as special guest for ‘Ogieoke 2: Reimagined’ concert

Filipino singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid is bringing his iconic tunes back onstage with a fresh twist as he headlines “Ogieoke 2: Reimagined” at the Newport Performing Arts Theater on November 30.

While Ogie’s beloved songs will be the heart of the show, one of the concert’s anticipated highlights is the performance of special guest, P-pop girl group BINI, fondly dubbed as Nation’s Girl Group. Also joining him will be JM Dela Cerna and Marielle Montellano.

During a press conference on October 25 at the historic 85-year-old Kamuning Bakery, Ogie talked about the unique concept behind his upcoming show, emphasizing that ‘Ogieoke 2: Reimagined’ will be centered around reimagined versions of his well-loved hits.

“It’s all my songs. Kaya may reimagined—lahat ng mga songs ko, reimagined,” he shared.

Recalling the lively crowd experience at first installment of his successful show, he explained, “I don’t know if you saw Ogieoke—the first one. Parang naging singalong din siya e. So ganoon din, but more of my songs.”

When asked how BINI came to join him for the repeat concert, Ogie recalled a lighthearted moment with the group while they were in Los Angeles for a taping for his Sunday variety program ‘ASAP’.

“I saw them sa Los Angeles, kasi yung ASAP nandoon. Tapos biniro ko lang sila, ‘Gusto n’yo mag-shopping?’ Tapos yun pala, oo. So pinag-shopping ko sila,” he laughed, recounting the moment.

“Pero hindi yun ang dahilan. Natutuwa lang kasi ako sa mga batang yon. I’ve always been a supporter of theirs through and through. So their success is something that I’m so blessed to see, to witness.”

Ogie shared how thrilled he was that BINI quickly agreed to be part of his show. “So nung tinanong ko kung pwede ba sila mag-guest, walang kaabog-abog, ‘Of course. We’ll adjust to your schedule. Kailan ba yan?’”

Grateful for their enthusiasm, he added, “I am just very thankful to them and to the management.”

On BINI’s longevity

On the topic of BINI’s potential for staying power in the music industry, Ogie offered some words of wisdom for the group, reflecting on his own journey.

“Ako ang hope ko, wag silang—kasi nando’n na sila, ‘di ba?—so be patient. There will be times na may bagyo. Kailangan ikalma mo talaga yung sarili mo. Dadaanan mo yan,” he advised, emphasizing resilience as a key to a long career.

“Sabi nga nila ‘longevity is the key’. Papa’no ba naa-achieve yung longevity? E di magpaka-longevity ka,” he quipped.

“Kung gaano ka ka-patient, at hindi ka nagmamadali, at…nirerespeto mo ang lahat ng katrabaho mo—You know, the ones that are still working today and active are the kindest people. Sila yung madaling katrabaho. Sila yung hindi kagalit ng production.”

For Ogie, success isn’t just about talent or fame; it’s about building harmonious relationships in the industry. Incorporating both fresh talent and his timeless classics, ‘Ogieoke 2: Reimagined’ promises to be a memorable night of music, unity, and a celebration of both established and emerging Filipino artists. As BINI takes the stage alongside Ogie, fans can look forward to a night where nostalgia and newness meet.
