‘VS Cinema’: new hub for filmmakers, moviegoers in QC

VS Hotel Corporation and Rems Entertainment joined forces to unveil the newest cinema in the heart of Metro Manila, VS Cinema, on September 8. The cinema is located on the 8th floor of the Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City.

The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony were led by Gabby Ramos, CEO of Rems Entertainment, alongside Dr. Mario Isic, Group General Manager of VS Hotel Corporation, Alex Labastilla, Group Sales Manager, and Hart Ocampo, Victoria Sports Club and Cinema Operations Manager.

During the press conference, Gabby Ramos shared his personal experiences as a filmmaker, recounting the challenges of creating films but struggling to find venues to showcase them. He expressed the frustration filmmakers often face when trying to find a platform to screen their work after investing so much effort into production.

Ramos also emphasized that VS Cinema will welcome all types of films, regardless of their origin or scale. The cinema aims to be inclusive, accepting not only major international releases but also student films, short films, and even older films. Film festivals are also encouraged to make use of the venue.

Ramos wants filmmakers to have the chance to see their films in a cinema setting before going public. “Provided lamang if you chose the right audience for you, you have yours rating from MTRCB kung ito ay commercially released or ticket selling. Pero kung ito ay technical viewing,… open yan. Para makita naman ng mga filmmaker natin na bago nila ipalabas sa [malaking] sinehan, napanood na rin nila sa sinehan [VS Cinema],” he added.

VS Cinema boasts an impressive 55 luxurious Lazy Boy seats, offering guests unparalleled comfort and an immersive viewing experience. It is now open for special screenings, press conferences, film festivals, film premieres, technical viewings, and various events.

In July 2024, Brillante Mendoza’s film Moro had its private screening at VS Cinema, just before its release on Netflix. The event was attended by the award-winning cast, including Piolo Pascual, Baron Geisler, and Laurice Guillen.

The filmmaking community was enthusiastic about the launch of this new theater in Metro Manila, seeing it as a perfect venue for film screenings, VIP block screenings, production events, press previews, private movie treats for corporate guests, and more.

VS Cinema redefines the moviegoing experience, offering a captivating environment where cinematic storytelling and exceptional comfort come together, setting a new standard for film enthusiasts.
