Filipino double Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo expressed his gratitude and sense of fulfillment when he received a 5 million peso cash gift from a digital entertainment company that was part of his journey at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Yulo was presented with the cash gift during a grand media event dubbed “Astig Ka, Carlos!” by DigiPlus Interactive Corp., along with its popular sports betting app ArenaPlus.
At the press conference on August 31 at Cinema 11 of Gateway Mall 2, Araneta City, he reflected on the challenges he faced, which he believes were given to him by God. Yulo emphasized that these challenges were ultimately worth it, as they provided him with opportunities to test himself, care for his mental health, and grow personally.
Yulo said, “Worth it lahat ng mga challenge na binigay sa akin ni Lord. And super grateful ako [na] binigyan niya ako ng gano’ng opportunity na ma-challenge din yung sarili ko, at siyempre maalagaan yung mental health and yung sarili ko.”
He also thanked God for surrounding him with supportive people who love and stand by him during important events in his life. Yulo stressed that enduring those tough experiences was truly worth it because he never gave up and continued to enjoy his sport.
“Nagpapasalamat din ako kay Lord talaga na binigyan niya ako ng mga taong magmamahal sa akin at susuportahan ako sa mga gano’ng event sa buhay ko. Sobrang worth it talaga na napagdaanan ko yon. Di ako sumuko at masaya akong ginagawa yung sport ko. Na-enjoy ko talaga yung moment sa Paris and siyempre yung pagkapanalo talaga… Sobrang saya ng feeling ko kasi na-overcome ko lahat and sobrang kontento ako sa kung ano yung na-achieve ko. And super grateful talaga,” he added.

Shortly after, Yulo was presented with a Php 5 Million reward and a plaque of appreciation, as symbols of gratitude for the honor he brought to the country.

Yulo then delivered an inspiring speech, sharing his journey, and the joy of achieving his dreams.
