‘40’ stars Kiko Estrada, Cindy Miranda on what they learned in love

Cindy Miranda stars alongside Kiko Estrada in the romantic drama movie “40,” directed by Dado Lumibao and produced by Viva Films and Happy Infinite Productions Inc. Opens September 4 in cinemas nationwide.

During the media conference for ’40,’ Direk Dado Lumibao described the film as a romance drama about love and life, with a surprising twist towards the end.

He said, “It’s really a celebration of life and love… It’s basically a love story, a romance drama siya, but in the end meron siyang twist. So, I really hope na pag pinanood yung movie, yon, meron siyang twist towards the end.”

Cindy Miranda shared her personal insights on relationships and self-love.

She advised, “Wag po madaliin. Wag lang ma-in love, magka-boyfriend, just for the sake na may kasama ka. So natutunan ko po, maging masaya muna ‘ko sa sarili ko.”

Cindy also mentioned that she has been single for two years. Although some might wonder why she doesn’t have a boyfriend yet, she attributes it to being focused on her work and feeling genuinely content with her life and friendships.

“I’m actually two years na single na po. So, medyo matagal na po. And I’m okay. I’m happy with myself. Pag tinatanong ako kung bakit wala pa rin akong boyfriend, kasi feeling ko dahil busy rin ako sa work ko—ta’s masaya naman po ako, okay lang po ako, marami naman akong friends, nandiyan lahat ng friends ko, pero sabi ko nga, anytime na dumating po kung sino man yon, okay lang, I’m ready,” she shared.

Cindy reflected on a past mistake where she loved her partner more than she loved herself, which she now sees as a lesson learned.

“At least, tanggap ko yung sarili ko, mahal ko yung sarili ko. And then from there, pwede na ‘kong magmahal. Kasi parang before, parang feeling ko hindi ko mahal yung sarili ko, mas mahal ko yung partner ko. I think yon yung naging pagkakamali ko dati,” she added.

Kiko Estrada learned that true love involves giving without expecting anything in return.

He said, “Yung pinakanatutunan ko sa pagmamahal is pag nagmahal ka, don’t expect anything in return. When you love, you love without return…”

When asked if he has applied this lesson in his own life, Kiko replied, “Sometimes. It’s a work in progress.”

Cindy Miranda plays Megan, a vlogger and content creator who becomes controversial after someone exposes her staged/fake video content. Megan is so shattered by the severe hate she’s been getting online that she decides to commit suicide. Out of nowhere, someone appears to save her.

Kiko Estrada plays Archie, a computer shop owner. He sticks with Megan from the moment he saves her. Megan is not at all pleased. He has three words for her about how to deal with problems as an enemy, without harming herself: Attack. Conquer. Eliminate. And once he’s convinced that she’s already got a hold of herself, he promises to let her be. The problem is that she sees herself as the enemy she must slay.

As Megan’s demons are revealed, how can Archie make her see that life is still beautiful? Where is Archie’s optimism all coming from? In this world where our days are numbered, can Megan count on Archie to help her heal no matter how long it takes?

Behind Miranda and Estrada’s fresh tandem is a supporting cast composed of Yayo Aguila, Boboy Garrovillo, Irma Adlawan, Ruby Ruiz, JC Tiuseco, young actor Lawrence dela Cruz, and with a special participation by Diego Loyzaga.

The poignant Ben&Ben original song, “Leaves”, is used as the movie theme song with the version performed by the Concert King Martin Nievera. As the refrain goes, “Leaves will soon grow from the bareness of trees, and all will be alright in time”, believe in the power of hope in “40”.

Directed by Dado Lumibao, best known for his work in drama movies like “Always” and “Wedding Dress” and other compelling TV shows, such as The Greatest Love and Maalaala Mo Kaya.

Cindy Miranda has recently appeared in the horror movie “Kuman Thong ”. She has a FAP Awards Best Actress nomination under her belt, for her role in “Reroute” opposite John Arcilla and Sid Lucero.
