It’s finally home! The drama-thriller film AbeNida, starring Allen Dizon and Katrina Halili, and directed by Louie Ignacio, premiered in the Philippines during Cinemalaya 2024 on August 10 at Ayala Malls Manila Bay.
Apart from the cast members, in attendance at the premiere night were producer Baby Go, and co-producers Jean Go and Ferdinand Lapuz, line producer Dennis Evangelista, and writer Ralston Jover.
During the talkback session after the screening, Mommy Dearest actress Katrina shared her excitement, especially since it was her first time watching the film.
She said, “Maganda. Na-excite ako kasi si Direk [ay] super ano e: ‘Ang ganda nung pelikula. Magiging proud ka,’ sabi niya. ‘Mag-invite ka,’ Happy ako na naging part ako nito.”
Katrina also expressed her gratitude to the director, producers, and co-actors for her being part of the project.
Abot-Kamay na Pangarap star and internationally multi-awarded Allen Dizon shared his hope for more screenings so that more Filipinos can watch the film.
He said, “Excited na… mapalabas itong Abenida dito sa Cinemalaya. Sana mas marami pang regular showing. Sana mapanood ng mga kababayan natin.”
AbeNida tells the story of Abe, a woodcarver and artist whose life falls apart when his wife leaves him for another man. Desperate for connection, he becomes infatuated with a woman who bears a striking resemblance to his ex-wife and begins calling her by his wife’s name, Nida.
In AbeNida, Allen Dizon plays the challenging role of a mentally-deranged sculptor, while Katrina Halili bagged her first-ever dual role as Nida/Cecile. It also starred Ms. Gina Pareño, Leandro Baldemor, Vince Rillon, and Joel Lamangan. Also starring Kate Brios, Ina Alegre, Mimi Juareza, Anna Jardin Cabrega, and Allen’s daughter Nella Dizon.
