Barbie Imperial rejects negativity, focuses on work

For Barbie Imperial, it’s easy to see negativity everywhere nowadays, especially on social media. Despite people’s good deeds, there are still negative comments.

Speaking at the media conference of her new film ‘How to Slay a Nepo Baby,’ Barbie shared, “Sa mga panahon ngayon, lahat ng makikita, kahit isang anggulo lang, yung makikita nila [ay] parang puro negativity. Actually, pag bumukas ka ng social media, kahit ang ganda ng ginawa nung tao para sa isang bagay, may negative at negative pa rin talaga.”

She also emphasized the importance of staying positive and focusing on one’s own actions and dealing with negativity:

“So for me, I think yung secret talaga ay maging positive ka. As long as alam mo sa sarili mo na wala kang ginagawang masama, let them talk, hayaan mo silang magsalita, basta ang focus ko lang talaga ay magtrabaho, and siyempre maibigay ko yung mga pangagailangan ng mom ko. Okay na ako do’n.”

Recently, she has starred in various VIVA projects and this latest big-screen endeavor is a production of Happy Infinite.

When asked about taking on a new genre away from the limelights of television, she responded:

“Bihira kasi akong gumawa ng thriller. [Kadalasan,] puro iyakan talaga. So, medyo iba ito sa akin. Medyo hindi siya yung usual, so hindi ako sanay, pero with the help of Direk [Rod Marmol] at lahat sila, lahat kami parang tinutulungan namin yung isa’t isa, so, naging okay naman po siya.”

Sue Ramirez, Barbie Imperial, and the rest of their gang are ready to slay, literally. Catch a group of entitled rich kids as they face life or death encounters in ‘How To Slay A Nepo Baby,’ premieres July 31, 2024, in cinemas nationwide.

A group of rich friends travels north to Sagada to celebrate their work anniversary. There’s Ada, the “Queen Bee” and somewhat the leader of the group; J, an influencer and Ada’s boyfriend; Bella, a model; Kel and Sho, twins from a wealthy Spanish family; and Cass, the newest member of the group. They are spoiled rich kids who think highly of themselves but are nothing without their parents’ wealth. “Nepo babies” as Gen Z’s would refer to it nowadays.

They plan for a careless, carefree wild night that’s overflowing with booze and drugs. But Yayo, Cass’s helper, guards them and prohibits them from doing anything too crazy. Ada and Cass then talk to Yayo for being a buzz kill, but it turns into a heated argument, and they end up harming his life.

But as Ada and Cass return to their friends, they are surprised to see Yayo, all well, without a scratch, and as if nothing happened.

Yayo also convinces the group to visit the secluded area of Lunti, an off-the-grid village led by a mysterious woman named Inayon, where they encounter strange customs and traditions, a place filled with grim and unexplainable things no one has ever seen.

As the group stays longer in Lunti, the more they endanger themselves, and each second they spend there becomes a living nightmare.

What would six privileged kids do in a place where their status and wealth have no value? Will they be able to leave Lunti, or have they reached their tragic end?
