Supermarket chain Puregold is significantly enhancing its commitment to the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival by offering the highest production grants for full-length films in the Philippines.
In the upcoming 2025 edition of Puregold CinePanalo, each of seven selected professional and amateur directors will receive an impressive P3,000,000 full-length film production grant. Additionally, 25 talented student filmmakers will each be awarded a P150,000 short film production grant.
Aspiring filmmakers are now invited to submit their applications for the festival. The deadline for full-length film directors is July 15, 2024, while student directors focusing on short films must apply by August 15, 2024.
“Following a highly successful inaugural run in March, Puregold is thrilled to have made its mark on the Philippine film industry,” said Puregold President Vincent Co. “We aim to continue this momentum to support Filipino students and filmmakers. This year, we encourage more aspiring filmmakers to explore new themes and experimental approaches while celebrating Filipino heritage and values.”
Puregold CinePanalo includes two categories: short films for students and campus-based filmmakers, and full-length films for amateur and professional directors. Unlike previous festivals, this year Puregold CinePanalo requires applicants to submit complete screenplays with their entries. This enables the Selection Committee to identify the most compelling and well-developed stories that fit the festival’s theme. Applications can be submitted at https://forms.gle/wNUUQ62okYcyW5r37.

All submissions must focus on uplifting stories centered on the theme “Mga Kwentong Panalo ng Buhay.”
Puregold senior marketing manager and festival director Ivy Hayagan-Piedad highlighted the significance of this theme. “We are looking for fresh storytelling perspectives. Puregold CinePanalo aims to be a platform for local artists to take risks and boldly pursue their craft. Our goal is to elevate outstanding Filipino films to the national—and even global—stage,” she said.
Student shorts can have a maximum runtime of 20 minutes, whereas full-length films must be at least 90 minutes long. All winning entries will be showcased during the festival, scheduled from March 14-25, 2025, at Gateway Cinemas. Furthermore, all films included in the festival lineup will be eligible for awards at the Puregold CinePanalo Awards Night on March 19, 2025.
The first Puregold CinePanalo featured full-length films by directors such as Kurt Soberano, Sigrid Bernardo, and Joel Ferrer, along with student shorts from filmmakers at UP Diliman, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas, and other institutions nationwide.
