After five years of anticipation, writer-director Philip King’s first feature film, ‘G! LU,’ starring David Licauco, Teejay Marquez, Derrick Monasterio, Kiko Estrada, Enzo Pineda, and Ruru Madrid, is set to be released in Philippine cinemas.
In a recent press conference, King shared the personal inspiration behind his film, emphasizing its significance as his inaugural directorial venture. Grateful for Arnold Vegafria’s trust, King expressed appreciation for the thematic focus on friendship and personal experiences that drive the narrative.

Reflecting on the production process, King recalled the camaraderie among the cast and crew during filming. “Super friends talaga sila lahat doon e. Minsan magulo… We had fun,” he reminisced. He described the shoot’s steady rhythm and the relaxing ambiance of La Union, which added depth to the storytelling.
Coinciding with ‘G! LU’s’ release is another film penned and directed by King, adding an intriguing twist to the cinematic landscape. “Hindi ko alam bakit nagkataon. Pero since Chinese ako, naniniwala ako, baka suwerte yung 4/24/24, so sana, suwerte lang for the both [films],” he humorously speculated.

The essence of ‘G! LU’ lies in its portrayal of the final days of summer—a fleeting period synonymous with freedom and adventure for the protagonists of the Valley Boys Club. Also starring Pinky Amador, Michelle Dee, Katarina Rodriguez, Chanel Morales, Maureen Montagne, Sophia Senoron, Kimi Mugford, Ali Forbes, Carl Guevara, Ken Anderson, Denver Hernandez,, the film promises a blend of heartwarming camaraderie and visually stunning landscapes.
More on the presscon, King and producer Arnold Vegafria unveiled insights into the narrative and characters, offering a glimpse into the world of the Valley Boys Crew. Vegafria expressed optimism regarding the film’s resonance with contemporary audiences, particularly millennials grappling with issues of identity and mental health.

Grateful for the support extended by the Kapuso network, Vegafria emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation in sustaining the local film industry’s upward trajectory. He shared his vision for ALV Films, highlighting the commitment to delivering diverse and engaging cinematic experiences.
Following the success of ‘After All’ and anticipating the release of ‘My Stepmother’s Lover,’ ALV Films remains committed to delivering diverse and engaging cinematic experiences. With ‘G!
