‘SinoSikat?’ makes comeback via new single ‘Heart Calling’

SinoSikat?, led by frontwoman Kat Agarrado, is making a long-awaited comeback to the local music scene. After nearly 15 years since their 2009 record, ‘2nd Album,’ the group released a much-anticipated new single ‘Heart Calling‘ in February through a media launch.

This latest musical offering is not only a significant comeback for SinoSikat? but also marks a fitting continuation from their earlier works – the self-titled debut ‘SinoSikat?’ and the aforementioned ‘2nd Album,’ released in 2007 and 2009, respectively. ‘Heart Calling’ is a collaboration between Warner Music Philippines and Pinoy Soul Records, showcasing the band’s enduring appeal and evolving sound.

At the launch of their latest single in 12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub, at Estancia at Capitol Commons, Kat Agarrado opened up about the inspiration behind ‘Heart Calling.’

“I wrote this pre-pandemic… ‘Yung song is about… when you have something — you have your life going on — pero deep inside, in your heart, parang alam mong meron pang mas maiaangat. Meron pang tawag yung puso mo na sinasabi niya kung ano yung kailangan mong gawin… Yung purpose mo sa mundo na ito. Kasi, we could be so distracted, lalo na ngayon, sobrang daming distraction. Pero deep inside alam mo eh! Or sasabihin sa’yo ng puso mo or ng kaluluwa mo na parang meron ka pang iaangat.”

Aside from her hit singles with the So Blue hitmakers, Kat has released songs like ‘Trabajo’ under Warner Music Philippines since 2022. Her solo singles include ‘Sa Lyong Mga Mata’ and ‘Beautiful Kind.’

While the group disappeared from the local performance scene for quite some time, the driving force behind SinoSikat? is back on the music scene. With a new album, regular performance schedules, and a new single to boast of.

Kat expressed her aspirations for the group’s comeback. She said, “Ang pangarap ko para sa SinoSikat? is to reach a younger audience. Gusto ko talagang dalhin siya sa mga music festival abroad to represent our music.”

Kat started singing professionally at 16 and has been part of several local bands. However, her mainstay has been with ‘SinoSikat?’ for over a decade. She is committed to continuing the 20-year music legacy of SinoSikat?, a band formed in 2004 that has established itself in the OPM (Original Pilipino Music) scene.

SinoSikat?’s triumphant return to the music scene with ‘Heart Calling’ marks a compelling chapter in their 20-year musical journey. Led by the ever-talented Kat Agarrado, the band’s enduring appeal, coupled with their evolving sound, promises an exciting revival for fans. As they aim to captivate a younger audience and potentially represent Filipino music on international stages, SinoSikat?’s comeback stands as a testament to the band’s resilience and commitment to the OPM legacy they’ve built over the years.
