In a mesmerizing event on February 16, the ‘Big Dome’ in Araneta, Cubao, sparkled with grandeur, filled with melodies from performers spanning generations during ‘Wish Date: Tides.’ The shared theme throughout was love, romance, and acceptance.

An immersive symphony: music, film, and live theater

With the adept musical direction by Jason Quitane, the stage lit up with amazing music from Pinoy talents.

The opening salvo was sung by the Wish Chorale. This was followed by Rhodessa kicking things off with her heartfelt songs, like the emotional “Kisame” and her originals “Ideya” and “Isa, Dalawa, Tatlo.” She really painted a picture of feelings through her music.

Esay Belanio kept the good vibes going, singing all kinds of songs from The Righteous Brothers’ “Unchained Melody” to ABBA’s “Mama Mia” and Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers.” She showed she could sing different styles really well, proving she’s a versatile artist.

Joey Albert’s return to the stage was a big deal, singing old favorites like “Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin” and “Tell Me.” Her singing made everyone feel warm and fuzzy, taking them back to good times.

The CompanY, a group known for their singing as a well-harmonized group, wowed the crowd with “Now That I Have You” and “Muntik Na Kitang Minahal.”

Hakki, with her deep voice, sang some really emotional songs like Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris,” Stephen Sanchez’ “Until I Found You,” and Lani Hall’s “I Don’t Want You to Go.” His singing showed a lot of feelings and got everyone hooked.

The best part was when Hakki and Belanio sang together. Their duet of The Weeknd’s “Save Your Tears” was amazing, creating a special moment that everyone will remember. The whole night was filled with great music and good vibes, making it a night to remember for everyone there.

Engaging romantic story on the big screen

Under the direction of Arnold Sanchez, a film illuminated the big screen strategically placed amidst live performances. An ensemble of gifted actors, including the acclaimed Junjun Quintana, Mary Joy Apostol, Lienel Navidad, and Iyannah Sumalpong, breathed life into relatable characters on the grand stage.

The heartwarming narrative, narrated by the charismatic Dr. Clark (Kuya Daniel Razon), unfolded as Angeli (embodied by Mary Joy Apostol) and Kevin (brought to life by JunJun Quintana) serendipitously crossed paths at an art museum. This encounter laid the foundation for a tumultuous journey involving love, revelations, marriage, the birth of a child, and unforeseen twists that led Kevin to discover new love with Georgia (portrayed by Leinel Natividad).

Years later, these characters reunited at a country fair, unraveling hidden truths that tested loyalties and choices. The storyline reached a climactic conclusion, highlighting Kevin’s unwavering decision to stand by Angeli and their child—an enduring testament that true love, much like ocean tides, perseveres through life’s undulating journey.

What made this viewing experience exceptional was the spirited cheers from the audience during kilig moments and even in heart-wrenching scenes with poignant dialogues between the characters portrayed by Quintana and Apostol, both navigating the complexities of love throughout the story’s duration.
