There’s this curious horror-thriller film called ‘Soft and Quiet’ that’s making its round on Tiktok and it’s scaring the hell out of netizens because of its terrifying premise. This time around, ‘Soft and Quiet’ lands on Philippine cinemas starting August 2, 2023.
A gathering of a group of women turns into a horrific event after making bad decisions after the other.
Emily (Stefanie Estes), an elementary school teacher, organizes a mixer for a group of like-minded women. As a white supremacist, Emily holds this meeting to persuade fellow alt-right women with their views about social issues such as race, diversity, and equality.

This privileged group spends the day exchanging stories and catching up with their lives over food and drinks. But what was supposed to be a simple gathering quickly escalated when they had a heated argument with two Asian-American women, which led to a hostile and almost inexplicable chain of events.
The film touches on the never-ending issue of racism and how misconceptions and little understanding of things could bring harm and unfair treatment to others.
Soft and Quiet is written, produced, and directed by Beth de Araújo. It is Araújo’s directorial debut, and it premiered in the narrative competition of the South by Southwest Film Festival last year, March 2022. It was then released in theaters last November 2022 by Momentum Pictures. Starring Stefanie Estes, Olivia Luccardi, Eleanore Pienta, Dana Millican, Melissa Paulo, Jon Beavers, and Cissy Ly.
Since the film’s release, it has received lots of reviews and an overwhelming response from its viewers.“Unflinching, uncomfortable, disturbing, and generally just a horrible experience. I LOVED IT.” says Mike Muncer of The Evolution of Horror Podcast. Luke Crum from Bloody Good Horror also tweeted, “Man, oh man…watching the reactions to this is going to be as riveting as the movie itself. This is a hell of a bold debut and one that’s going to have people talking…heatedly.”
Filipino moviegoers and horror movie fans can finally experience the thrill, curiosity, and rage the film offers as Viva Films releases it in Philippine cinemas.
Catch SOFT AND QUIET in cinemas this August 2, 2023.
