Senior citizen love story in NET25’s Films’ debut offering ‘Monday First Screening’

It’s yet another milestone for NET25 as it has recently ventured into film productions via NET25 Films. In their first-ever offering, multi-awarded actors Ricky Davao and Gina Alajar are lovers nearing their ripe old age, who met in the midst of a weekly free movie screening for senior citizens.

The movie, dubbed “senior citizen rom-com,” captures a story that revolves around two senior citizens who develop romance by watching free movies every Monday, the first screening for the day, as practiced in some malls in Metro Manila.

“Maraming kwento, minsan lang nakaka-sad lang na pinapanood namin, lahat na lang ng bida mga teenagers, young love etc. But yung love ng seniors iba rin. Minsan mas cute pa sa love ng kabataan,” veteran actor Ricky Davao said.

“…Yung love kasi universal eh, so kahit anong edad pwede. Dito habang ginagawa namin ni Gina eh kami mismo kinikilig,” he added.

Audiences will get to know more about Lydia, the character of Gina Alajar, a newly-retired high school principal who immersed herself with a group of senior citizens like her by watching movies in the mall.

“Masarap yung pakiramdam na meron pang interesado na gumawa ng pelikula na ganito, na ang mga bida ay hindi naman pang-box office at hindi naman mga bata,” Gina Alajar shared during mediacon.

The movie premiere, to be held via invitational screening, will be on June 12, 2023 at the EVM Convention Center in Central Avenue, Quezon City at 11:00 in the morning. Not only will it showcase NET25’s first ever film, but it will also be an opportunity to reach out to senior citizens through free medical services.

Guests can avail of free medical and eye check-ups. There are also free medicines, vitamins, reading glasses, hearing aid, and a few wheelchairs to be given away to those who will participate in the program.

Seniors and their family members can avail of free services of Philhealth and Pag-IBIG Fund at the venue. A photo booth will also be prepared for young hearts.

Also starring in the film are award-winning actors Ruby Ruiz, Soliman Cruz, Che Ramos, and David Shouder with a new love team to watch out for – Allen Abrenica and Reign Parani.

‘Monday First Screening’ is directed by Benedict Mique. He co-wrote the screenplay with Aya Anunciacion while the director of photography is Owen Berico.

The exclusive movie block-screening is sponsored by: Regent Food Corporation, EW Villa Medica, Kafreshness, Huawei, Hypoair Snowflake Air Purifier, Life Extension Philippines, ADM Catering Services, Jamila Aesthetic, Spectrum Disinfect & Pest Control Services, Kings Empire Corporation, Salem, Go Shi Herbal Coffee, Brew Buddy Ph, Reinoldmax, H2O Company, The Nextperience Group, Memo Plus Gold and Mr. Gil Granado.

NET25 is the Philippines’ first digital TV station known for its family-oriented shows and top-rated news programs.
