#M3GAN is full of fun, excitement, and thrill, not just as a horror flick but also as a story of familial love (for human and even for toys). That’s our very first impression after seeing it for the first time through a private press screening inside the mini-theater of the local office of Warner Bros., which distributes films across the Philippines from Universal Pictures.
As a robotic doll programmed to protect the girl protagonist — physically and emotional — M3GAN is undoubtedly creepy as it is. What makes it even creepier are its emotionless and cold eyes, terrifying facial expressions and reasoning, and even these crazy dance moves and singing prowess. (I will never hear the songs played in the movie the same way again.)

It would be hard to imagine owning and befriending such menacing and influential child-size doll in real life.
This could be your type of movie if you are yearning for some good time inside the movie theaters with good moments of laughter, jumpscares, and exhilarating moments while appreciating the mixture of science fiction and horror. Everything in between might be predictable (as the plot itself is just as straightforward) but it’s the whole journey that gives a rewarding experience especially seeing all the action on the big screen.
Props to James Wan and Blumhouse Productions for always on the lookout for producing titles with memorable movie characters who are cult classics in their own rights.
Don’t miss the fun-filled thrill of this sci-fi horror film once it comes out in cinemas nationwide this Sunday, January 8. Rated R-13 by the MTRCB.
Synopsis: When Gemma suddenly becomes the caretaker of her orphaned 8-year-old niece, Cady (Violet McGraw, The Haunting of Hill House), Gemma’s unsure and unprepared to be a parent. Under intense pressure at work, Gemma decides to pair her M3GAN prototype with Cady in an attempt to resolve both problems—a decision that will have unimaginable consequences. As M3GAN and Cady develop an unbreakable bond, Gemma grows more and more terrified that the very creation she invented to help Cady heal is learning at an exponential rate…and that M3GAN may be perceiving “threats” to Cady that do not exist. M3GAN also co-stars Ronny Chieng (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) as David, Gemma’s C.E.O. at the toy company that bankrolls what will become M3GAN and is directed by Gerard Johnston.
